Cheryl Biagini is a senior manager in manufacturing engineering at Raytheon. She has spent most of her career in engineering design and development.
Cheryl won the Managerial Leadership Award at the 2017 Women of Color STEM Conference for her exemplary role in an organization of engineering professionals focused on a portfolio of electrical technologies.
Cheryl inspires others by encouraging people to stretch and soar. She is a key member of the engineering leadership team in Raytheon Missiles Systems
Cheryl is also part of the Pan Asian Community Alliance, and recently took part in an Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) event, which features workshops on health, immigration, and culture for youth and adults.
At the local AAPI meet, attendees learn how to become involved with community and heritage through public programs that help them grow.
Instructor-led hands-on workshops at the event also look at AAPI distribution in census findings.
In addition, there is leadership education, where speakers reflect on how childhood experiences shaped their professional life, how to grow positively with the lessons learned, and how they integrate into society.
They also feature Secrets of Successful Asians, which address controversies of “Tiger Moms” (and Dads) as discussed by author Amy Chua.
“Let’s Talk About Race!” provides insight on racism and anti-Asian sentiment as the youth see it in schools and in their close-knit communities.
Young attendees are encouraged to talk about their experiences, career planning, the good and bad of social networks, and more.
University professors also go over how language barriers, folk medicine, diet, and distrust make it difficult to treat AAPI seniors; generational differences and how they impact relationships and opportunities at home, work, and in the community; and growing up Asian in the United States and in a multi-cultural world.
